Ritual Glaze by Mayco

Ritual Glaze by Mayco – Coming Soon!

March 26, 2025 Mayco Colors announces the acquisition of Ritual Glaze. This acquisition will expand Mayco’s ceramic glaze offerings to include Ritual’s unique special effect glazes for mid-range and high-fire usage. Select Ritual-branded glazes will be manufactured, sold, and marketed through Mayco’s established worldwide distribution network. Ritual Glaze Founder, Sarah Bingham, will be working with the Mayco team to ensure that the Ritual brand and its products are launched with her enthusiasm and passion in mind.

Founded in 2022, Ritual Glaze is a 100% woman-owned, small-batch startup based in Portland, Oregon. The first-ever special effect glaze company, Ritual Glaze produces a unique collection of textural and specialty glazes, including products known as Bead, Crawl, Melt Gloop, and Moon Rocks.

Founder Sarah Bingham expressed her enthusiasm for the future, stating, “I’m beyond excited and humbled to be working with the Mayco team to increase the availability of these special effect glazes!”

As Ritual Glazes have gained in popularity, the small-batch nature of the operation has been impacted. With Mayco’s manufacturing and distribution capabilities, Ritual Glazes will become accessible to a larger audience within the ceramic community.

Mayco Colors, founded in 1954, is one of the world’s leading producers of high-quality ceramics products, including ceramic glazes, acrylics, bisque, and decorating accessories. A family-owned business, Mayco has been located in Hilliard, Ohio—a suburb of Columbus—since the early 1970s. The company employs 75 people at its manufacturing facility. In 2011, Colleen Carey Brennan, who has been with the company for 30 years, and her husband, Kevin, purchased Mayco.

“Adding Ritual Glaze to Mayco’s glaze assortment brings a unique aesthetic option, expanding the possibilities of glaze design for our consumers. Sarah has done a great job creating these exceptional, very innovative glazes. We are proud to add our experience in glaze production and our global distribution to make this product available to ceramic enthusiasts.” said Colleen Carey Brennan, President and CEO of Mayco Colors.

Mayco’s products serve a diverse customer base, including schools, institutions, paint-your-own-pottery (PYOP) studios, potters, and hobbyists. The company’s mission is to ignite creativity and inspire ceramic artists of all skill levels.

FAQs

What colors will Mayco be manufacturing? Will Mayco be selling any glazes beyond the 4 listed in the graphic?

Mayco will be announcing the full-color palette from the four glaze lines soon. All of the initial colors that Mayco is manufacturing are chosen based on sales and manufacturing capacity. The acquisition includes all of the Ritual Glaze formulas, so Mayco has an opportunity to bring them back in the future.

What will change?

We are going to keep everything the same with the formula to the degree possible and economically feasible. Mayco Engineers have received the formulas and are working hard to match Mayco’s manufacturing and production processes. We will be using the same packaging as the Mayco Stoneware Glazes (squatty pint).

When will Mayco start manufacturing the glazes?

Ritual Glaze will continue to offer a selection of glazes through the Ritual website for the next few months. After that, consumers will be able to purchase Ritual Glaze exclusively from Mayco’s worldwide network of distributors. We estimate the glazes will be available by Summer 2025.
