Multimedia Creativity - Magic Metallics & More!

birds in a cage mmMetallic and mixed media projects are enjoying the limelight these days. We’re seeing combinations of ceramics, glass, fabric and paper on surfaces varying from wood, glass, metal and canvas. What’s great is these looks are easy to create with Magic Metallics™.

Magic Metallics™ are water-based acrylics that contain ground metal particles. When dry the surface will appear and feel like a metal surface. The cool thing is they can be applied to almost any paintable surface: glass, wood, fabric, Styrofoam, paper, ceramic, etc. It isn’t a faux painting process but an actual layering of metal particles on a craft surface. Pretty cool and absolutely unique! Since the acrylics contain metal particles they can be made to rust or develop a patina. The Patinas and Rapid Rust products speed up the natural oxidation process so that you can obtain a rustic, vintage look in a short amount of time.

You can also combine them with Softees Acrylics to add vivid color to any design. Take advantage of these easy-to-use products to help you try a new look with your art. Visit our YouTube channel for Magic Metallics™ How To videos.
