Mayco Communities

Resources for Ceramic Artists

While the core activity of ceramics may share common components – glazes and clay surfaces – ceramists vary according to their perspectives, aesthetic, and motivations for pursuing ceramics. Within each content area, or “community,” you will be able to browse community-specific projects, tips, events, and much more! Descriptions of our current communities can be found below.

Creative Studios

Dedicated to key managers and owners of Paint Your Own Pottery studios (PYOP), mobile studios, dealers or retailers. Mayco Creative Studios offers retail education – sales, signage, displays, merchandising and more – and also identifies ceramics industry trends. On top of that, Creative Studios posts project ideas aimed at boosting your sales.

Ceramic Workshop

Ceramic Workshop is dedicated to traditional artists. If you enjoy decorating and designing with fired and non-fired products this is the place for you! Ceramic Workshop is home to ceramics ideas we hope will inspire your creativity and fuel your desire to express your personal style.

Mud Room

The Mud Room is the place for all aficionados of clay: potters, students, art educators, clay artists, and enthusiastic ceramists. Mayco’s Mud Room is the place to get up-to-date information on clay artists, techniques, and products at mid- and high-fire temperatures.

Art Educators

Artlink is dedicated to Art Educators, and it aims to inspire creativity through unique lesson plans, classroom projects, fundraising ideas, workshop opportunities, and new products to try with your students. In addition to ideas you can implement in your classroom, you’ll see unique projects, as well as health and safety information to keep your classroom up-to-date on the latest issues.

Events

We see events as places we go to meet you, talk and share, instruct and inspire. At trade shows, we show up with literature, product samples and dazzling displays. We bring supplies to teach classes or to do simple “make n’ takes” at our booth. We show up with artists, teachers and marketers who are well versed in product usage. We can answer technical questions about how products are supposed to work. And we love to share design and decorating ideas, discussing with you various applications techniques and the fired effects they create.
