Can you tell us a little bit about yourself and your background as an artist?
I never acquired the subject of art formally, but it was always there since my first memory, 13 years ago I founded a hospital for dolls, renovated it and was a donor to the girls in the hospital, a very powerful experience for me. I started sculpting in clay 4 years ago following a crisis independently through YouTube, it was a miracle for me and brought the longed for peace.
What is it like working as a Head Nurse of Surgery? Do you find ceramics to be an outlet from your job?
I have been a nurse in an emergency room for 36 years, it is a very demanding and stressful job in shifts and in difficult situations, and here is the wonderful thing about sculpting in clay that draws me to the realms of wonderful silence.
The dolls you create are stunning! Where do you get your inspiration?
I get my inspiration from the world that surrounds me, the people I meet everywhere are preserved in memory and are expressed in sculptures.
Your dolls have such incredible detail, too. How long does it take you to make one?
I am a woman of details, and the time of making the statue has never been measured in times for me, because every moment is happiness, so who counts happiness?
How do Mayco products fit into your designs?
Mayco products for me are perfect, the richness of the colors and the shades of the glazes are the dream of every artist who uses paint, the results are amazing for the mind and eye, and thank you for that.
