Can you tell us a little bit about yourself?   

I started painting and drawing when a kid,  then 12-14 years ago got into china painting and making small porcelain pendants and free form clay pieces.  That  then led to pottery , sculpting , handbuilding,  throwing.   then I ended up combining all the above.

How do Mayco glazes and products fit into your work? 

I really love Mayco glazes, they are my favorite even though I use other commercial brands as well. The Mayco glazes are user friendly and usually play well with others. They have so many great effects with in their glaze lines. Both stoneware and low-fire glazes.

How to do you come up with your design ideas?

Some are  custom orders, some I just sit and let the clay tell me what it needs or I saw something that inspired me to try something new.  

We noticed you like to incorporate animals into your designs. Do you have a strong connection or love for animals?  

Yes, I Always loved animals,  I used to play with frogs and snakes and lizards as a  kid.  Now I still do  with the clay.

Can you tell us a little about your studio space?

I am a simple farm girl working out of my shed in Florida. My wheel and small kiln are there, I have my bigger kiln in the metal shed at my mother’s.  I use her covered porch where I do most of my glazing and have shelves for finished pieces to hang out before a show.  

Do you have an artist you look up to?

I like to watch many potters and artists. There’s lots of inspiration out there. Then I try to put my own flair to things. Most of my paintings on mugs and bowls are all free hand. I keep a small sketch pad and scribble ideas that may come during the night .
