The Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act of 2008 (CPSIA) significantly updated several Consumer Product Safety Committee (CPSC) statutes. Significant text is dedicated to defining children’s products and related regulation. While Mayco products are used by children they are not primarily marketed to children and are therefore defined as a general use product.
CPSIA does require that domestic manufacturers or importers of non-children’s products to issue a General Certificate of Conformity (GCC). These GCC’s apply to products subject to a consumer product safety rule or any similar CPSC rule, ban, standard or regulation enforced by the Commission.
