Instructions

  1. Begin with properly fired earthenware bisque.
  2. Wipe with a damp sponge to remove any dust.
  3. Apply 1 coats of UG-50 to the entire piece and wipe back with a sponge, leaving the underglaze in the details/texture.
  4. Once dry, use the fan to apply 2 coats of EL-132 Rust Red to the outside layer of flames. Do not be too precise about the edge of the color. You will want this to overlap a bit with the next to create a smooth transition.
  5. Use the fan to apply 3 coats of EL-133 Autumn to the next layer of flames. Again, do not be too precise about the edge of the color.
  6. Apply 2 coats of EL-107 Amber Ash to the face, overlapping with the edge of the Autumn.
  7. Repeat the previous step, but with EL-128 Wheat.
  8. Allow to dry completely.
  9. Stilt and fire to cone 06/05. Sample was fired to cone 06.
