- Begin with properly fired shelf cone 04 bisque. Moisten a clean sponge and wipe bisque to remove any dust.
- With a pencil and AC-230 Clay Carbon Paper, trace on the design.
- Outline the design with SG-401 Designer Liner. Allow to dry.
- Using a CB-106 Script Liner and a CB-110 Liner, apply 2 heavy coats of SW-201 Turquoise over the tree and branches.
- Using a CB-106 Script Liner, apply 2 coats of SC-2 Melon-Choly to the breast of the bird, then finish with SC-89 Cutie Pie Coral.
- apply SC-16 Cotton Tail to the large unpainted areas on the top of the plate, don’t worry about getting it close to the detail.
- Float SC-30 Blue Dawn around some of the branches of the tree.
- Using a CB-106 Script Liner, apply 2 coats of SC-2 Melon-Choly to the inner part of the rim and SC-89 Cutie Pie Coral to the outer part of the rim.
- Using a CB-604 #4 Soft Fan, apply 2 coats of SC-89 Cutie Pie Coral to the back of the plate but not the bottom.
- Using a CB-604 #4 Soft Fan, apply 2 coats of SW-100 Stoneware Clear over the top of the plate, no need to worry about over lapping the branches and the bird.
- Use a damp sponge to make sure all the glaze is removed from the bottom and foot of the plate, as it cannot be stilted.
- Fire to shelf cone 5/6.
- Firing speed is set to medium; kiln shelf should be properly coated with kiln wash. Use a cone 6 witness cone to confirm firing temp.
